Gears of War on More Platforms?
Saturday, May 26, 2007
In a move unprecedented by any gaming companies for more than a decade, Gears of War apparently has been ported to another system. The big surprise is that system is none other than the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
A completely shocking choice but what can one say except for "Why didn't I think of that?". Unknown to most, but the full power of the SNES has never really been tap
ped into. Until now. We are not going to BS everyone and say that this port is better than the 360 version, but damn is it close.
Visually, it is impossible to tell the difference. The only thing that really separates the two is the frame rate. While both run at 60 fps, the SNES version can drop to 20 fps when the going gets tough. Although this can make a player lose the immersion, it is still a great game.
Readers let us hear your review of the ported game.

Halo on DS?
Sunday, January 07, 2007
Talk about the most unlikely game ever besides Super Mario Bros for xbox 360. This guy's blog talks about playing an unfinished version of Halo on the DS.

Once upon a time, a very smart publisher came up with a brilliant idea. It contacted Microsoft and got the ball rolling on a very unlikely project: Halo for Nintendo DS. Needless to say, there were many egos involved and unfortunately because of some issues that I won't detail, the project was eventually cancelled. But not before it was completely up and running and fully playable. I know all his because I recently learned of the back-story and got a chance to play a leaked build of Halo on DS for myself.

Shaberu! DS Ryouri Navi teaches cooking!
I love cooking. Having the Nintendo DS teach me how to cook sounds hilarious and fun.

But, I've always wanted to learn how to make my own sushi. And now that I have a "loaned" Nintendo DS, I can try out the "Shaberu! DS Ryouri Navi", otherwise known as the Talking DS Cooking Navigator. It contains over 200 Japanese recipes that are voice-activated with pictures. Think of it as a portable Emeril—Japanese style!

Overclocking Your Nintendo DS
Here is a cool Hack. The people that come up with this must be insane. Anyways if you want your DS to run 70% faster look at this article.
[quote]
Ok here's something for you all DS Lite owners out there with more balls than brains. A japanese hardware guru has managed to successfully overclock a DS Lite by 1.7x including sound and video. The overclocking mod requires disassembly of the DS, some fine trimming and cutting as well as soldering. But hey at the end of FOUR long hours, you will be able to say 'I have an overclocked DS Lite but no idea why'.
The mod if completed, can easily alter between 'normal' and 'overclocked' speeds via the flick of a switch. The improvement of speed is not insanely stupid as shown via the video below and who knows, perhaps it could come in useful sometime. For more information on how this was all made possible, head on over to jpn.org.

FFIII For Nintendo DS
Wednesday, July 12, 2006
Finally some good RPGing on the DS will be had. Unfortunately, Japan gets first taste. We are used to this so it is ok, but still ready to rock out on FFIII for the Nintendo DS.

The latest issue of Nintendo Dream (#140) has exclusive screenshots of the Nintendo DS version of Final Fantasy III. Originally announced alongside the DS back in Autumn 2004, the project had remained quiet for over a year and now information about the remake is starting to trickle out. The sixteen year old Famicom game is being remade with full polygons. Directed by one of the original developers of the game, Hiromichi Tanaka, Final Fantasy III is due to be released in 2006 in Japan.

Nacho Libre for the DS
Sunday, June 18, 2006
That movie Nacho Libre is coming with a DS sidekick soon. Nacho Libre comes to the DS as the first wrestling game. Not sure about how awesome the movie will be, but the DS Nacho Libre should be a blast.

The Nintendo DS is all set to get its first wrestling game; no it’s not a WWE game, it’s not a Def Jam game, nor is it a TNA game, it’s umm… Nacho Libre, a game that’ll be based on the upcoming movie of the same name, starring Jack Black.
The game will be published by Majesco (no word on the developer yet) and will revolve around Black as he dons the garb of a Luchador (Mexican Wrestler) to save his orphanage from financial ruins. In the game, you could either play as Nacho (Black) or ten other Luchadors, armed with their own unique moves.

Easter Eggs for DS Lite games?
Apparently there are little easter eggs in several ds games, when you load them up in the nintendo ds lite. Makes me excited to see what else there might be hidden in the games.

One of our readers left a comment in the previous post stating that Mario welcomes you with a different greeting in Mario Kart DS when you play it on a DS lite. Since I also acquired a brand new DS lite today, I decided to put this whole thing to the test.
Armed with my Phat DS and DS lite, I booted MKDS with both portables. On the original DS, Mario welcomed me with “Yahoo!” and some engine sounds, as usual. But on the DS lite, Mario changes his greeting to a familiar “Here we go!”.
